Sagrada Familia

Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

Sagrada Familia, Barcelona.

Sagrada Familia is Barcelona’s prime tourist attraction so be prepared to jostle for space with hundreds of other visitors. It is nevertheless worth it, not only because Sagrada Familia is considered Gaudi’s grandest project which he worked on over 40 years and because it enjoys additional fame due to the fact that nobody knows when exactly the church will actually be completed (certainly not in the next 30 years), but also because it truly looks spectacular.

We visited Sagrada Familia several times: in the morning to take photos of more interesting eastern façade, in the afternoon to take photos of the western façade and of course in the evening, when illuminated church conjures tranquil although somehow eerie atmosphere.

In April 2007 Sagrada Familia was a huge and very active construction site with several cranes operating throughout the day. We also visited interior of the church and one of the towers offering commanding views of Barcelona and construction workers performing their daily routine at hair-raising heights.
