Getting to Portorož by air
Unless you have your own (or chartered) private jet, it is very unlikely that you will be able to get to Portorož by air. Its tiny international airport doesn't serve any commercial airlines and is thus reserved for private jets, panoramic flights, tandem parachute jumps etc.
Nearest airports to Portorož serving commercial flights are Trieste Airport in Italy (80 km away) and Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia (145 km away).
Getting to Portorož by train
The nearest train station to Portorož is in Koper, 15 km away. There are four direct trains daily to Koper from Ljubljana and the trip takes around 2h 20min. From Koper you can take a local bus to Portorož. If you have a lot of luggage, getting from Ljubljana to Portorož by train might not be ideal as you need to change to a bus at Koper.

Getting to Portorož by bus
Portorož bus station is located just behind the main public beach in the centre of Portorož. There are around nine buses daily from Ljubljana to Portorož and the trip takes from 2 to 3 hours, depending on the bus route. Buses in Slovenia are slightly more expensive than trains, but considering the fact that the nearest train station to Portorož is in Koper some 15 km away, getting from Ljubljana to Portorož by bus might be the easiest option.
There are regular local bus services from Portorož to Piran, if you wish to visit this lovely Mediterranean town and don't have the energy to walk. It is about 6 km west of Portorož.
