The owners of Puerto Galera hotels complain that with the rise of popularity of Sabang, they have been losing a lot of hotel business, especially after the introduction of direct Batangas - Sabang boat route. Travellers going to Batangas do not need to pass through Puerto Galera anymore. Less guests in Puerto Galera means cheaper hotel rooms, so we were able to afford the best hotel in Puerto Galera without burning our wallet.
We stayed at Badladz hotel near Puerto Galera port. There is 'Adventure Centre' in the hotel organising various diving, snorkeling and overland trips. Badladz hotel is American-owned. There are many Mexican dishes on the menu of the hotel's restaurant. We tried a few but were not impressed, as they did not resemble authentic Mexican cuisine at all.
Badladz hotel offers air-con rooms which come with a bathroom with hot water and a beautiful view over Puerto Galera Bay. The rooms are not the most comfortable by Western standards, but they are reasonably clean and come with satellite TV. Baldlaz hotel is thus an ideal place for a few days' rest on the way from Manila to Boracay, if you choose to travel overland and by sea. While staying there, enjoy excellent food at Le Bistro D'Agathe nearby and catch up on world news watching BBC in the room – if that is what you want during your trip to the Philippines at all.
