Manila is served by all major airlines, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Air France, Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways.
If you are based in Europe and are planning a trip to the Philippines, check the prices of air tickets with Emirates and Qatar. Middle-Eastern airlines usually offer very competitive prices of air tickets from Europe to Asia, whereas the quality of their service is often better compared to European airlines. The only downside of flying Middle-Eastern airlines is changing planes in Dubai (Emirates) or Doha (Qatar) whereas European airlines get you directly to Manila.
If you are planning to visit the Philippines in combination with a trip to Malaysia, check AirAsia for cheap air tickets from Kuala Lumpur to Manila. Our return ticket Kuala Lumpur-Manila cost 60 €, which is pretty cheap for a 4-hours flight.
Unlike regular airlines who will take you to the main Manila airport Ninoy Aquino International Airport – NAIA, the Malaysian budget airline AirAsia flies to the former American airbase Clark Fields north of Manila. This is not necessarily bad. Clark Airport is a lot smaller and less chaotic than NAIA and it only takes about two hours by bus to central Manila, traffic permitting. Also, from Clark Airport you can conveniently take a bus directly to northern destinations such as Baguio. Several bus companies have booths right in front of the exit from the airport terminal, opposite two moneychangers where you can stock-up on Philippine Pesos.
