There are dozens, if not hundreds of hotels, resorts and guesthouses on Boracay, offering all sorts of accommodation: from bare rooms without air-con in ugly concrete buildings to luxury bungalows with swimming pools and marvellous interior design right at the beach.
We stayed at Sanders White Hotel near the Tourist Information Centre on White Beach. Our room was simple but clean, air-conditioned, without hot water in the bathroom and with a pleasant porch. Sanders White is located in the second row of bungalows, around 30 metres from the beach, so there is no sea view from the rooms. On the other hand, the price of Sanders White Hotel was reasonable at 1500 pesos per night.
The only nuisance at Sanders White hotel was water. Ever since the explosion of tourist industry on Boracay, there are problems with water supply. Some hotels are connected to water supply system while others, including Sanders White, have their own water tanks. We do not know how they treat the water but it had a terrible smell of ammonia.
