Sizzling Plate Restaurant, Baguio

Grilled pork with fries at Sizzling Plate, Baguio.

Selection of restaurants in Baguio is as wide as one would expect it to be in the capital of Cordillera. Baguio restaurants include local eateries serving precooked food, slightly more upmarket restaurants serving a la carte dishes and various fast-food outlets, including McDonald's. If you are heading to remote places in the Cordillera, make sure to eat well in Baguio. It is difficult to find decent food up in the mountains.

Vizco's Restaurant & Cake Shop

We had a typical Filipino restaurant at Vizco's: tocino chicken with rice and coffee. The chicken was tasty and served with a fried egg of course - there seem to be no Filipino breakfast without it. Being caffeine addicts, we were happy about Vizco's unlimited coffee refill with every breakfast.

Location: 5 Session Road.

Flying Gecko

Flying Gecko seems to be one of the most expensive restaurants in Baguio and is a favourite spot of well-off locals and foreigners. Compared to Europe, the prices at Flying Gecko are still pretty low. We just popped in for a dessert and a drink. We had a carrot cake and a coffee. The cake was tasty, juicy and substantial. The coffee was no better than anywhere else. Interior decor of Flying Gecko and extremely friendly service created a pleasant experience. We would by all means return.

Location: Session Road.

Sizzling Plate

Sizzling Plate was teeming with customers the evening we passed by. It seemed to be so popular that we decided to join the locals feasting on sizzling meat served on iron plates. The food was tasty although not exceptional but we had great fun eating with the locals.

Location: Session Road.
