Kilenc Sárkány / Nine Dragons

Have a craving for Dim Sum? Rush to Nine Dragons which is one of those few Chinese restaurants in Budapest which serve this type of Cantonese delicacy, and they are quite good at it.

Location: Pest VII, Dózsa György út 56 (corner of Dózsa György út and István út) Tel: 342-7120

Lan Zhou Étterem

Lan Zhou Étterem serves good La Mien (hand pulled noodles). We had a beef soup with noodles there for less than HUF 900. It's a shame that the soup had only a hint of beef taste and contained a lot of msg. The noodles however were so good that we wondered whether we could persuade the owner to sell just the raw noodles, which we would then bring home and cook with our own beef broth.

Location: Pest VIII, Luther u. 1/b. Tel.: 314 1080. Open: daily, 12-23

Momotaro Ramen

Momotaro Ramen serves Chinese and some Japanese fare at affordable prices. The Kung Bao Chicken and some stir fried vegetable dishes are quite good. The La Mien is good value for money as they come with heaps of vegetables and meat. However, the desserts we tried (Red Bean Paste Bao and Sesame Paste Dumplings) were rather disappointing, so we would suggest to satisfy your craving for sweets elsewhere.

Location: Pest V, Széchenyi u. 16. Tel.: 269-2037. Open: daily, 11-23

Arigato

Arigato serves good homey dishes. It is run by a Japanese couple, and is frequented by Japanese expats. Our favourite dishes at Arigato are pork marinated in ginger sauce and grilled mackerel.

Location: Pest VI, Ó utca 3 (4 minutes walk from the basilica). Tel.: 353-3549. Open: Mon-Sat 12:00-15:00 and 17:00-23:00.
