French cuisine and wine are famous all over the world but during our explorations of Paris we concluded the following: culinary delights in Paris are pricey and French wine isn't necessarily good only because it says 'Bordeaux' on the bottle. Nevertheless, Paris does have a great selection of restaurants, cafés and bakeries offering good food at reasonable prices.

If you have booked a hotel in Paris and the price of accommodation doesn't include breakfast, you will probably be offered an option to pay extra for breakfast once you get to the hotel. In our opinion, it doesn't make much sense to pay for breakfast in Paris hotels, as their hotel breakfasts are usually small, boring and expensive. Instead of gulping down inferior quality breakfast in a characterless hotel dining room, go out and find a café or bakery and get yourself a coffee and croissant. There are plenty of local cafés and bakeries all over Paris and starting your day the way Parisians do is the best way to feel the morning pulse of the city.

Many restaurants in Paris offer reasonably priced fixed lunch menus consisting of a starter/main or main/dessert. If you take advantage of these offers, you can get a decent lunch for €15-25. Some restaurants offer similar (albeit more expensive) fixed menus for dinner as well.

If a simple lunch is what you are after, you can get it in any café or brasserie, usually offering a selection of quiche (very popular savoury dish, similar to pie, with various fillings, such as cheese, spinach, fish, ham....), crepes (omelettes with savoury or sweet fillings) etc. If you are really on the run, you can always grab a sandwich, usually in a form of a baguette with various fillings, at any bakery.

In short: you will never be hungry in Paris. Parisians themselves are obsessed with food, that's why in Paris you are never too far away from a restaurant, bakery or café.
