Packing tips

What to pack for my travels?

That's probably one of the top questions travellers ask themselves before hitting the road - regardless of whether it's a long weekend in a familiar city or a several months' journey into the unknown.

Some travellers tend to bring as many things as possible while others travel ridiculously light. An ideal option is somewhere in-between and it depends a lot on the nature of the trip.

The duration of the trip should not influence the amount of the baggage as much as you would imagine. It's true that you need less clothes for a weekend than for a one-week trip, but once your journey extends over a week or so bringing a fresh set of clothes for every day would have been suicidal - you will have to do laundry on the road.

Key factor of what to bring is therefore not the duration but rather the nature of your trip. If you will stick to urban areas you can be pretty sure that you can get the same things there as at home - in many places even cheaper than at home. If you are heading to very remote places though, make sure to bring everything you need, especially personal hygiene items, medicines, photography/video supplies and any other important personal items.
