Packing tip
Every traveller should have a packing list. It eliminates the frustration of last-minute packing and it can be very useful in case of lost or stolen luggage.
Travel documents & money
- passport with necessary visas
- passport-size photos for visas on arrival and other documents you might
make locally
- travel documents (e.g. air/bus/rail tickets)
- cash
- travellers' cheques
- credit/ATM cards
- phone number of your bank/credit card company (for cancelling stolen
cards)
- travel insurance policy
- photocopies of a passport, visas, travel documents, travellers' cheques
receipts and insurance policies
- a photocopy of marriage certificate (might be useful in Islamic countries)
- a guidebook (bring only photocopies of the pages you actually need to
save weight)
- maps
- hotel reservations confirmations
- money belt

Travel medicines
- all the medicines that you are taking regularly and might not be available
at the destination
- painkillers
- products to relieve diarrhoea, constipation, motion-sickness, itching,
sunburn, inflammation
- first aid kit (plasters, thermometer - Mercury thermometers are not
allowed by airlines!, bandages, scissors)
- antiseptic cream for small scratches and wounds (those get easily infected
in tropical climates)

Travel clothes
- underwear (the quantity depends on the length of your trip, but don't
exaggerate – on longer trips you will need to do laundry as you go)
- socks
- clothes for sleeping
- long/short pants
- long-sleeved/short-sleeved shirts/T-shirts

- swimsuit
- small towel (you will not need this if staying in expensive hotels)
- extra pair of shoes/sandals

Travel toiletries
- toothbrush
- toothpaste
- soap/shower gel (not necessary if you will be staying in better hotels)
- shampoo (not necessary if you will be staying in better hotels - unless
you can't live without your favourite brand)
- face cream/moisturizer

Travel photography gear
- camera body
- wide-angle zoom lens with a lens hood (covering at least 28mm, possibly
less at the wide angle end in order to be able to make stunning landscape
and architecture shots)
- telephoto zoom lens with a lens hood (such as 100-300mm, for shooting
distant details and unobtrusive portrait photography)
- powerful flash
- sturdy tripod
- remote shutter release
- skylight/UV filters mounted permanently on all lenses. Skylight filter
not only contributes to better quality photographs but also protects lenses
from physical impact - it's much cheaper to buy a new skylight filter
than a new lens
- polarizing filter
- spare batteries for camera body and flash
- film/memory card supplies
- good quality cloth for cleaning lenses

Useful travel accessories
- raincoat or small foldable umbrella
- disinfection wipes (such as Dettol) – useful for wiping hands before
eating in case you don't have a chance to wash your hands
- Swiss army knife (a combination of a blade, can opener, bottle opener
and scissors is perfectly enough)
- insect repellent
- small pack of washing powder
- string (useful for drying clothes in a hotel room)
- sun glasses
- hat
- sunscreen

- cheap wristwatch with alarm clock (wake-up calls in some hotels might
be unreliable)
