Continental Hotel Pension Vienna – free booking at discounted rates
Hotels in Vienna can be expensive, especially in the 4-star and 5-star range. However, there are some very reasonably priced centrally located Vienna hotels to be found and Hotel Pension Continental is certainly one of them.
Continental Hotel-Pension is ideally located at Kirchengasse 1, a few steps from Mariahilfer Strasse, the busy and most famous shopping street in Vienna. U-bahn (metro) stop Neubaugasse is just 30 metres from the hotel. If you drive, Continental Hotel-Pension can arrange discounted parking (€ 15 per day) at Gerngross Shopping Centre across the street from the hotel.

Rooms at Continental Hotel-Pension Vienna
Rooms at Continental Hotel-Pension Vienna range from single, double, triple and family (quadruple) to apartments for 4 people. Thus, the hotel is equally appropriate for single travellers, couples, families and small groups of friends. Buffet breakfast is usually included in the price and consists of a selection of bread, cheese, salami, butter, jam, boiled eggs, muesli, cornflakes, orange juice, coffee and tea. Food quality is adequate, apart from the coffee which could have been better. The breakfast area is tiny and can get busy at times. You might need to wait for a table for a few minutes.
The rooms at Continental Hotel-Pension are large, clean and well appointed. We spent a few nights in room No. 15, which has a large enough wardrobe, luggage stand, work-desk and two chairs, club table with another chair, telephone and safe. The latter is unfortunately not large enough to accommodate a 13" laptop. There is free Wi-Fi in the room, which functioned well, and plenty of wall sockets for charging computers, mobile phones, cameras and other electronic devices guests may have. We were very pleased with the lightning in the room, which afforded comfortable working without going blind. The bed was comfortable, but we were not very happy with the pillows, which were too soft and too small for our liking. There is a minibar (fridge) in the room, although we probably don't have to mention that drinks offered in the minibar are rather expensive. We suggest buying your own stock at the nearby Billa supermarket at Mariahilfer Strasse.
The bathroom is large and spotlessly clean, water pressure in the shower very good. There is a wall-mounted hairdryer in the bathroom.
Guests arriving at the hotel without their own smartphones or laptops can access Internet on a laptop available at the sitting area next to the reception/breakfast area.

A nice hotel, but not really 4-star
We were generally satisfied with Continental Hotel-Pension Vienna. However, we do have to mention the fact that guests used to 4-star comfort might find Continental Hotel-Pension slightly below 4-star standards. We missed large, soft towels in the bathroom (the ones we had were rather thin and hard), better pillows and perhaps coffee and tea making facilities. But these are just small details indeed, which many guests wouldn't have even noticed.
Continental Hotel-Pension is certainly a good place to stay in central Vienna. It is ideally located just off Mariahilfer Strasse, 10 minutes walk to Museum Quarter, 15 minutes walk to Hofburg and 20 minutes walk to St. Stephen's Cathedral. Continental Hotel-Pension offers plenty of comfort for its price. We paid € 70 per night for a double room with buffet breakfast and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Vienna.
