Britannia International Hotel – free booking at discounted rates
Britannia International Hotel, located in the heart of London's business district Canary Wharf, is well known among business travellers to London while leisure travellers to London wouldn't normally think of getting a hotel room at Canary Wharf. Although the 442-room Britannia International Hotel is ideally located just 5 minutes walk from Canary Wharf tube and DLR station, Canary Wharf itself might seem to be a bit out of the way from central London to be a popular choice of tourists. However, it only takes 11 minutes on the DLR to Bank station or 19 minutes on Jubilee Line to Bond Street station (for Oxford Street). Stratford is 14 minutes on the DLR away, which will make Britannia International Hotel a popular choice for accommodation during the London Olympics 2012. If you happen to fly into London City Airport, the journey to Britannia International Hotel takes about 15 minutes. Last but not least, Britannia International Hotel is perfectly located for those attending concerts or other evens at O2 Arena. The latter is mere 5 minutes away on Jubilee Line.
Not too bad indeed in terms of location, and when you add to this frequent weekend specials offered at Britannia International Hotel via our website, you might realise that it is in fact a perfect place to stay during a London weekend getaway.

Weekend specials at Britannia International Hotel
During the week, the four-star Britannia International Hotel isn't the cheapest place to stay in London. It is after all a business hotel located smack in the centre of London's business district. The prices of double rooms at Britannia International Hotel from Monday to Friday average between GBP 160 and GBP 200 per night, which is OK if your company pays for it. On the other hand, from Friday to Monday, when there is not much business going on at Canary Wharf, Britannia International Hotel dramatically slashes its room rates and frequently offers double rooms for as little as GBP 69 per night! That's the price of a four-star hotel in London you can only dream of. The trick is to book a room at short notice – say at most 4-5 days in advance. Rooms at Britannia International Hotel
We tried out Britannia International Hotel on one of the weekends and were very pleased with it. The hotel entrance with bright red carpets, gold-plated and mirrored surfaces might look a bit tacky but what really matters is that the staffs at the reception were professional and efficient.
Upon entering the room we paused for a moment with our jaws dropping to the ground. The room was huge for London standards and so was the bed. There was plenty of space for clothes in the wardrobe. The room was furnished with a work-desk, two armchairs and a club table. There was a large LCD TV mounted to the wall and coffee/tea making facilities provided with a selection of coffee, decaffeinated coffee and tea. The room is air-conditioned, which comes in handy during the summer. The bathroom was large and clean. Our room overlooked Canary Wharf and Heron Quays DLR stations, some modern apartment buildings and office blocks.
The room was decorated in a retro Victorian style, with stripy wallpaper, a fake crystal chandelier (which we banged our head into a couple of times) and period furniture. Add to this cheesy paintings hanging on the walls and you will probably get the picture of a rather kitschy room. Nevertheless, the bed was very comfortable and the room quiet, which guaranteed for a good night's sleep. We woke up happy.
There was an option to pay extra for breakfast at the hotel, but we decided not to and got it ourselves in a nearby shopping centre with many restaurants, cafés and supermarkets. There are two restaurants in the hotel as well: English and Italian. Gym bunnies will be happy to hear that there is a fitness club in the hotel, complete with personal trainers available for hire. Or you can jump into the indoor swimming pool.
