Hotels in Paris are pricey, unless you are satisfied with a dingy room and dirty bathroom down the hall. However, there are some gems to be found among Paris hotels which will not necessarily drain your travel budget. One of them is Avenir Hotel Montmartre or to be more precise, its room No. 39, offering amazing views of Montmartre, Sacre-Coeur and Eiffel Tower.

Avenir Hotel Montmartre is located at the foot of Montmartre, about 10 minutes walk from Gare du Nord, which is the train station used by Eurostar.

Let's be completely honest: Avenir Hotel Montmartre is not Hilton. It is a cheap Paris hotel (two stars) with a very small elevator, decent rooms with small, slightly tired beds and clean bathrooms. Rooms come with a TV, but you will need to get a remote control from the reception in exchange for a € 10 deposit which is refunded when you return the remote control at check-out. Avenir Hotel Montmartre offers free Wi-Fi (ask for the password at the reception), which however didn't work when we visited. There was a small electronic safe in our room as well as a hairdryer and basic toiletries in the bathroom (a small soap bar and a small sachet of shower gel/shampoo). Nothing to brag about you would say, but what sets Avenir Hotel Montmartre apart from similar Paris hotels is its room No. 39.

Room No. 39 is at the top (sixth) floor of the hotel. It has a tiny balcony offering splendid views of Montmartre, Sacre-Coeur and Eiffel Tower. The balcony is so tiny that it barely accommodates two chairs, but don't forget that cheap Paris hotels usually don't offer a million dollar view.

So if you are off to Paris and would like to enjoy an incredible view of Sacre-Coeur and Eiffel Tower from a hotel room which you are not willing to spend a fortune on, book Avenir Hotel Montmartre and ask for the room No. 39 in guest comments.

The only drawback of room No. 39 is summer heat. The room is right under the hot roof and it is not fitted with air-conditioning. We stayed in this room in early September and we were warm. It is hard to imagine the temperature in the room during the height of the summer. On the other hand, if you are romantic enough, you could always get a nice chilled bottle of champagne and cool yourself down sipping it at the balcony. Be careful though as the balcony fence is not as high as it should have been.
